About Dying for a CHange

Written as the first of a series, Dying for a Change (published by Suspect Thoughts Press, San Francisco, California, November,2007) is about a life (vs. a lifestyle) seldom written about; the African American LGBT community in urban American in 1965.

Dying for a Change is about love, friendship and religion set within the political climate of Chicago in 1965. It's about race, class, gender and an examination of African American LGBT life.

It's about Chan Parker, a lesbian and her best friend, Henrietta Wild Cherry a notorious drag queen who is rich as Blue Bonnet butter.

Dying for a Change, a myster caper, is a 1st. novel written by Sean Reynolds to be published by Suspect Thoughts Press, November, 2007.

Dying for a Change is set on the Southside of Chicago in 1965. Medgar was dead, JFK was dead, Malcolm was dead and it was ten years, almost to the day that Emmitt Till was found floating in a river outside Money, Mississippi with an anvil wrapped in bailing wire attached around his neck. When the south and west sides of Chicago were ready to pop like a pimple on a teenagers face. It was the Summer of '65 when all hell broke loose.

Dying for a Change is pre-Stonewall.  Written from the perspective of an African American lesbian.

I hope you enjoy the ride!

I relocated to San Francisco in 1980. I still haven't found a good hot dog, good bar-b-q or a decent place to have my hair 'did.'

But San Francisco is a good town too. The weather suits my clothes.
